Membership Committee

Charge for the Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is tasked with working closely with the Executive Board and other committees to enhance membership engagement, recruit new members, and increase renewals, all while aligning with Literacy Nation’s strategic goals of growing the organization and fostering deeper member relationships. The committee will develop and implement strategies to attract new members, retain existing ones, and improve the overall member experience, ensuring that every member feels valued, connected, and engaged.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Member Engagement and Retention: The committee will actively work to improve member engagement, focusing on creating meaningful experiences that encourage long-term membership retention and loyalty. This includes collaborating with other committees to ensure that members have access to valuable programs, events, and opportunities that align with their interests and professional growth.
  • Recruitment Strategies: The committee will identify, develop, and execute targeted strategies to recruit new members. This may include outreach initiatives, partnership building, and digital campaigns designed to highlight the benefits of Literacy Nation membership and grow the organization’s reach.
  • Renewals and Membership Growth: The committee will focus on increasing membership renewals and expanding the organization’s base. This includes creating initiatives that remind members of the value they receive from being part of Literacy Nation, while also targeting potential new demographics to broaden the membership pool.
  • New Member Orientation and Initiatives: The committee will plan and implement a new member orientation program, ensuring that new members feel welcomed, informed, and equipped to engage with the organization from the start. Additionally, the committee will propose new initiatives and activities aimed at improving the overall membership experience.

Committee Meetings:

The committee will meet monthly to review membership data, discuss progress, and coordinate new initiatives. Regular meetings will allow the committee to evaluate ongoing strategies, assess the effectiveness of recruitment and retention efforts, and align its work with Literacy Nation’s larger strategic goals.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Increased Membership and Revenue: By driving membership growth and improving retention, the committee will help increase revenue for the organization, contributing to the long-term sustainability of Literacy Nation.
  • Enhanced Member Engagement: The committee’s work will lead to stronger member engagement through well-designed programs, personalized member experiences, and increased opportunities for participation, resulting in more active, involved members.
  • Improved Member Experience: With a focus on creating meaningful connections, the committee will foster a deeper sense of community, ensuring that members feel supported, valued, and encouraged to take full advantage of their membership.

Reporting:

The committee will regularly report progress, proposed initiatives, and outcomes to the Executive Board, ensuring alignment with Literacy Nation’s strategic goals and making recommendations for adjustments as needed to meet membership growth and engagement targets.
